In vitro comparison of wear characteristics of PyroCarbon & metal on bone: Shoulder hemiarthroplasty

Prof Mark Ross, previous fellow Dr Noel Peter and other collaborators have published results showing that PyroCarbon hemiarthroplasty implants cause significantly less damage to bone than conventional cobalt chromium implants in simulated shoulder function testing. We have published the study protocol for a randomised controlled trial we are conducting examining the effectiveness of various conservative management treatments used to managed base of thumb osteoarthritis. Shoulder and Elbow Society Meeting 2012
